'Wrath Of The Titans' Star Edgar Ramirez: Ares Is 'Damaged' Goods

Edgar Ramirez kills people. On screen. He played an assassin in The Bourne Ultimatum and international terrorist Carlos the Jackal in the Sundance Channel miniseries Carlos, for which he earned an Emmy nomination this year. When MTV News caught up with him on the Emmys red carpet, Ramirez talked about his next killer role: Ares, god of war and violence, in the Clash of the Titans sequel, "Wrath of the Titans," scheduled for release in March, 2012. He wasnt hugged enough, said Ramirez of his character. Hes a wounded, damaged kid, you know? Ares is also a kid with some very robust family members. In Wrath, Liam Neeson reprises his role as Ares dad, Zeus. Ralph Fiennes is also back as Uncle Hades, as is Sam Worthington as the main man/god and Ares brother, Perseus. Though Ares and Perseus have a Cain and Abel kind of thing going on in the film, Ramirez feels nothing but brotherly love for Worthington. Hes my brother on set, hes my brother in real life, he said. Interestingly, though these screen gods are family - and of course theyre all Greek - the actors who portray them hail from the four corners of the earth. They come from Ireland, England, Sam from Australia and Im from Venezuela, Ramirez explained. So its a very global movie. With Jonathan Liebesman (Battle Los Angeles) handling directing duties this time around, the hope is that this second Clash movie will top the first. Ramirez is confident that it will. Im very proud. We had a lot of fun and we were all very committed to it Its going to be a very fun, entertaining, and thrilling tragedy, this movie. Another thing to hope for: that Ramirez doesnt let this killer thing go to his head. Wed hate to see Barry Pepper knocked off for nabbing that Emmy.
